Snow removal by Ninja De-Icer for example is not necessarily an expensive solution. However, this operation will require a little of your time, but it will avoid a possible accident and make your daily life easier.
Shovel Snow
Very simple and practical solution: take your big steel shovel and scrape the snow. A snow shovel is inexpensive, and you can easily find one in DIY/gardening stores and supermarkets. Put the snow aside, but most importantly, do it quickly before it freezes and forms ice.
When collecting the snow on the sides, do not block the pipes or any run-off from gutters, maintenance holes, etc. If you don’t have a shovel, do not throw a bucket of hot water on the snow, you will get the opposite effect: good ice on which all you have to do is put on your skates. Finally, scrape off the snow as well as possible because a thin layer of snow remaining could also turn into ice later on.
Spread Salt
That’s what snowplows do on the roads: spread salt. You can do the same in front of your house. Go to a supermarket to buy big bags of salt; rest assured; bags of salt are not sold very expensive. Spread the salt after removing the snow with your shovel. Be careful if you have vegetation around the place to be cleared: prefer sand to spread around the roots of trees. Even without vegetation, sand can become your ally during snow removal. The same goes for coffee grounds if you store them.
Buy A Snow Pusher
More expensive than the snow shovel, the snow pusher consists of a handle and a blade like a snow plow. It allows you to push snow and clear snow quickly because its capacity is still higher than the snow shovel. This expense will be more expensive than the shovel, but if you live in an area with abundant snow, you will find it very useful; well maintained, it will serve you for many years.
Invest In A Snow Sled
Along the same lines as the snow pusher, and still, if you live in a place where snowfall is frequent and regular, you will love the snow plow. Its wide blade will allow you to push a large amount of snow in a single pass. Equipped with a handle, it is very handy and practical for mountain regions. It is always more expensive than a simple snow shovel, but it sells at a very affordable price; it will also serve you every winter.
Our Snow Removal Tips
Snow can quickly become your number one enemy in winter if you don’t show a minimum of anticipation. Applying the editorial advice using rock salt for snow, lets you keep your peace of mind even on snowy days.
Remove Snow Regularly
In winter, check the weather regularly and get started before it has snowed several tens of centimeters. Do not hesitate to remove the snow as soon as it falls. In the event of heavy snowfalls lasting several hours, clear snow several times regularly. Snow removal will be much easier and faster if you do it several times rather than waiting a day or two and spending several hours doing it.
Spread Salt Before Snow
No need to wait until it has snowed to spread salt. This preventive action can save you a lot of work later. Moreover, if you spread salt in prevention when it has yet to snow, you will use much less of it than if you do it after the snow has fallen. So, it will cost you less.
For the most effective results, mix fine and coarse salt with different virtues: fine salt defrosts quickly, but its effect fades much faster, while coarse salt is active longer but is not the right one. Choice if you need to defrost quickly. The mixture of the two is, therefore, ideal.
